Mr. Me Too wants to enter the game in the 4th quarter. Unfortunately, when you add a superficial social layer to a mature app never built to be social from the beginning, you get garbage like the current experience above. Beyond the visual clutter, the app just isn’t simple anymore.
Since there aren’t a lot of good RSS reader alternatives, you pretty much have to go with leftovers. I’ve been using Google Reader for way too long and after this recent update, it might be a good time to start looking at Fever. I initially avoided it, because the barrier is so high to get started. You can’t have a hosted solution, but if it’s gonna be a one time thing, it might be worth trying.
